The name of the release — \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eCarta Real\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e, the \"Royal Letter\" — comes from a \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eroyal state dinner \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003eserved in 1900 at the royal palace of \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eKing Alfonso XII\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e. Since the year 2000 this annual release has continued to advance in character with the average age of the Brandy reaching upwards of \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003etwenty-five years\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e using the Solera method in \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eex-Sherry cask\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e.
